ARTYMA - ABOVE IT ALL
Can you tell us a little more about the inspiration behind "Above It All"? What inspired you to write this song?
Above it all began with the piece that is now verse 2: a text about existential questions and curiosity about the universe. With this, I wanted to create a drop that felt like being sucked into a black hole. Thus a pop song with a heavy synth drop came about to make the contrast between on earth and in space.
How was the creative process of making this song? Did you overcome any specific challenges while producing, writing or recording?
I came up with the idea a year ago, but the skills in terms of sound design were not there before the drop, and my pronunciation of English was a lot less. I spent days fine-tuning the lead in the drop and let the track sit for six months before picking it up again to finish it.
What part in the production of "Above It All" are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the drop, where the idea from my head actually came all the way in. I had to build the synth from 5 different layers mixed just a little differently, and by doing a huge amount of automation on the envelope, release, filters, distortion and especially reverb to make it move that way.
What are your plans for the future after the release of "Above It All"? Can we expect more new music?
I have a few tracks ready to go, and in a month or so (Aug. 21) the next one is already coming out. Spoiler: it's going to be a Dutch club banger ;)
ARTYMA is definitely someone to keep an eye on and we are already looking forward to his latest single on Aug. 21. Listen to ARTYMA's current work below!
