MTM was founded by Jochem Beijer. He worked in all kinds of studios around Hilversum and Amsterdam and at some point he was able to start teaching as well. Although he really hated school himself, he really enjoyed teaching and after a few years he started his own business. At first we only gave individual lessons and courses, and slowly this grew into what it is today. It was not always easy. We went bankrupt after which everything had to be rebuilt, and the corona period was very difficult for everyone...But we are the winners!

So by now we have been providing lessons for over 20 years. We really have a nice top-notch team of respected teachers, so they are also not only teachers, but also do high-level productions.

We were the first school to start focusing on the music of the participants, instead of just giving general material that you then had to figure it out on your own. We were also the first to offer a lot of studio time and writing camps so that students could get real hands-on experience and work together a lot.

So we get copied a lot by fanatical colleagues, but that keeps you on your toes!

MTM has become the go-to place if you want to work in music. We are situated in 2 beautiful locations in Hilversum and Antwerp.

We are proud to say that students are regularly signed to larger labels such as Revealed, Spinnin, Avalon and Top Notch and publishers such as BMG and Talpa. Others are self-employed and sell music, do all kinds of productions or have their own studio.

MTM is registered with the CRKBO as vocational education, and we are members of the NRTO so that anyone aged 18 and older can take advantage of the government's STAP subsidy.
