STAND CONFIDENTLY ON STAGE

In 5 months we cover all the important aspects of the DJ business and teach you how to play at a professional level. We give you all the tools and resources to gain experience, practice and learn so that you can stand on stage confidently! You will be guided by experts with years of experience who are still regularly on stage!

MODULES

  • During this module we will go deeper into selecting the right tracks, creating a good build-up and determining the atmosphere you want to create on the dance floor. We will also discuss all the tips and techniques to keep your rekordbox collection completely 'on point' so you won't have any surprises during your performance.

  • During this module, we will explore the major components of a DJ setup, such as turntables, mixers, controllers and software. We will provide insight into their functions, buttons and connectivity so you have a good understanding of how they work and how to use them effectively. We will also cover topics such as troubleshooting common technical problems, managing cabling and creating backups for trouble-free performance.

  • During this module you will learn about the main functions and features of rekordbox. We will discuss how to organize your music library, tag tracks and add metadata for easy searching and filtering.

    In addition, we cover using Rekordbox to create playlists and select the right tracks based on tempo, energy level and other criteria. We also discuss how to sync your Rekordbox data with DJ hardware, such as controllers and CDJs, to seamlessly transition to your live performances.

  • During this module you will learn the art of creating edits and mashups. We will discuss different techniques for editing parts of songs, such as adjusting the length, changing intros and outros, adding effects and combining elements from different tracks.

    You'll also learn how to use loops, samples and acapellas to create new arrangements and put a fresh spin on familiar songs.

  • During this module you will learn the basic concepts of music theory, such as pitch, rhythm, chords, keys and melodies. We will explore the notation of music, and how this information can help you analyze and understand songs.

    We will also cover harmonic relationships and how chords work together within a key. This will help you create harmonic mixes and select songs that fit well together in your sets.

    In addition, we discuss how music theory can help you recognize musical structures, identify elements such as intros, verses, choruses and bridges, and understand the structure and dynamics of songs.

  • During this module you will learn the fundamentals of doing business as a DJ. We will discuss how to position yourself in the marketplace. We will talk about the importance of creating a professional image, developing a distinctive artistic vision and building a network of contacts in the industry.

    We will also cover the business aspect of DJing, including contracts, negotiations. You will learn how to offer your DJ services and find opportunities to grow your career.

    We will also discuss financial management, including income and expenses, pricing, royalties and taxes. You will gain insight into how to organize your finances and optimize your income as a professional DJ.

  • After all the necessary knowledge has been acquired, we will put this into practice and practice a lot.

    In addition, we will discuss the importance of analyzing and reflecting on your practice sessions. You will learn how to evaluate yourself, identify areas in need of improvement and how to work in a focused way to overcome challenges.

    For practice, you will have free use of our DJ room.

PRACTICING IN THE DJ ROOM

Practicing on a professional DJ set offers the opportunity to become familiar with the equipment you will encounter during performances, including cool features such as special effects, mixers and controllers. By practicing with different types of gear, you will improve your technical skills and be better prepared for different performance situations. During the course, you can also book our DJ room for 4 hours per week to practice with a DJ set of your choice!

ONLINE THEORY AND VIDEO PLATFORM

Have you forgotten something from the lesson or do you run into something during practice that you want to learn more about? Then we have an online learning platform available full of theory and video material where you can go through all the material and other information at your leisure. This way you can continue to study after your lesson and go deeper into the subjects you want to know more about.

EXERCISE IN THE CLUB

During training, we will also practice on a large PA set in the club to get used to the sound, feel and atmosphere so that during your first gig in a club, you will know what to expect and not be surprised.
